The lighting technology has come a long way from its beginning in regards to energy efficiency. The LED technology has been around for a long time, but only recently it become affordable and popular to use in commercial and residential applications.  With a technology that can meet almost all energy requirements, without compromising it’s light output and its durability, and can last more than 50,000 hours of usage. Upgrading the old light fixture to a LED light fixture is now a more common investment for its environment and budget friendliness.

According to the US Department of Energy, “Switching entirely to LED lights over the next two decades could save the US $250 billion in energy costs, reduce electricity consumption for lighting by nearly 50%, and avoid 1,800 million metric tons of carbon emissions.”

10W of LED light is equivalent to 20W of traditional Fluorescent light, the electricity consumption is reduce to half, as the LED technology develops further the energy efficiency will continue to increase.

According to the US Department of Energy, incandescent bulbs release 90% of their energy as heat and CFLs release about 80% of their energy as heat in comparison to LEDs. This makes LED lights less hazardous, particularly in terms of fire safety.

3.) Durability
LED uses significantly less wattage than an old traditional fixture to produce the light output required, which translates to less stress, and wear and tear. Most LED fixtures last 50,000 hours minimum in comparison to 20,000 hours for the fluorescent fixture. Owners will not only save money in their energy bill but also the cost of fixing or replacement of the fixture.

4.) High Color Rendering Index (CRI) – True Color Illumination
Natural light has 100 Color Rendering Index (CRI), which is the best render to show the real tone and color. Most LED light fixtures have a minimum of 80 CRI in comparison to 64 CRI with Halophosphate cool-white fluorescent. The LED illumination is the best technology in the market that mimics the accuracy of natural light.

5.) Design Flexibility
The LED fixture inside has a smaller mechanism structure and more sophisticated than the old traditional fixture. It requires less space to function, which gives more flexibility to designers especially in tight spaces.
